Easter has been celebrated since the very first centuries. This is the most important holiday of the Christian community. It is usually celebrated all the week after the Sunday of the Resurrection. The date of the easter festival is variable. Indeed, it corresponds to the first Sunday after the first full moon after March 21st. In its religious significance, the day of resurrection and Easter Monday are symbols of joy and renewal. Indeed, after the seven difficult days of Holy Week, the resurrection brings joy.
Easter Monday, the day after Easter, is often a day of celebration. Its date is variable and will be celebrated on April 17 in 2017. This festival is internationally recognized and is a holiday in several places. In some countries, Easter Monday is accompanied by different customs. In Poland, people pour water on each other, because water is a symbol of life. In England, the custom practiced on Mondays and Tuesdays is called "facelift". This practice involves carrying a chair decorated from house to house and when a person sits on the chair, it must be lifted three times as a symbol of luck. In Italy, Easter Monday is celebrated with a family picnic or has eaten eggs.
Although some are still very diligent in the customs of Easter, some see this holiday in a less religious way. Indeed, many families take the opportunity to gather around a good meal and spoil their children by offering them chocolate in abundance.
